Immediately after harvest, the grapes were pressed, and the juice was immediately chilled. Following settling the juice was racked into predominantly French oak, with some American oak, for fermentation and subsequent aging on its lees.
Tasting Note:
The Ingrid Bergman rose is a magnificent red, and the Chardonnay takes its name from this rose, which is planted adjacent the winery and vineyard. Golden straw in colour. While the Bergman Chardonnay is barrel fermented, it is still a fruit driven wine. The 2011 Bergman Chardonnay has weight and complexity, which is dominated by peach and melon - the oak is subtle. With time a hint of butterscotch will develop on the mid palate due to the partial malolactic fermentation.
