Immediately after harvest, the grapes were pressed, and the juice was immediately chilled. Following settling the juice was racked into predominantly French oak, with some American oak, for fermentation and subsequent aging on its lees.
Tasting Note:
The Ingrid Bergman rose is a magnificent red, and the Chardonnay takes its name from this rose, which is planted adjacent the winery and vineyard. It is rich in stone-fruit with subtle oak due to its barrel fermentation in a mixture of French and American barriques.
There is stonefruit, a hint of citrus, and length on the palate. Ingrid Bergman had many leading roles, and lived a long life, as will the 2009 Bergman Chardonnay.
